Rules, Regulation & Additional Information

 

  1. All team members must be in grades 7th through 12th and be able to be enrolled in a school district.  (This includes home school.) 
  2. Teams can be a maximum of four (4) members per team. Each team will receive four (4) gate passes.  Adult supervision is permitted, but the teams will be disqualified if an adult participates in any cook activity (i.e. seasoning meat, handling food, etc)
  3. Vehicles will be allowed to upload in cook-off area until 9:00 AM on day of cook-off.  All vehicles must be removed by 9:00 am.
  4. Teams should bring adequate canopies, etc, which will supply their own weather protection.  Water and electricity is limited and may not be in all areas.  Spaces are different than in previous years.
  5. All pits and fuel will be furnished by the cooking team.  Gas or Electric Grills are not permitted for meat events (only for chili and open).  Hole may not be dug and all fires must be contained.  Grounds must be left clean.
  6. All meat must be raw, thawed and unseasoned.   Cooking can not begin until the meat has been inspected.  It is the responsibility of the HEAD COOK to make sure the meat is inspected.
  7. Sauces may be used during cooking, but can not be put on the meat or in the judging container turned in for judging.  Judging containers shall not contain foil, rice paper, etc.  NO garnish of any kind will be permitted in judging trays.
  8. Alcohol is not permitted and may NOT be used in cooking/sauces.
  9. All Teams must abide by the East Montgomery Country Fair Association Rules and Regulations listed failure to do so will result in the disqualification of the cook-off team.
  10. Decision of the judging committee will be final.  East Montgomery County Fair Association shall not be responsible for any loss, damage, or theft of teams’ equipment or possessions while on the premises or during the cook-off.
  11. All prizes will be announced after judging on Sunday, September 14, 2008.  Trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in each event; as well as, Grand Prize for team accumulating the most points.
